DAY SUMMARY:

It’s bittersweet as our GR adventure comes to end today.   It’s been a long hot 9 days of racing(10 if you count practice race) and we are all looking forward to coming home for cooler temperatures.  It takes us about 5 days to refine our racing skills and just as we nearly perfect them, the race comes to an end(or until next year??)  Unlike the other days of racing where we received our scores when we cross the daily finish line, today, they don’t tell us until the formal awards banquet tonight.   So we are eager to find out!   (Keep checking here for a evening post updating the results) Both teams are feeling confident this was our best day of the week, but you never know.   We are hoping team 95 is getting an award tonight.

Todays racing was a shorter race of about 130miles (vs 230+). They threw in a couple of very short hidden checkpoints.  This was to accommodate everyone having enough to check in to hotels and make it to the awards banquet tonight.    The finish line today was at a very nice location of the Irmo Community Parks with a huge crowd! And there was another surprise visitor, Melodie Hopkins standing at the finish line.   Keep posted for results being posted here tonight!

Lastly, a huge thanks to Lynn Gross for being both our support staff and #1 fan of both Throttle teams!  Cannot tell you how nice it was to show up at 8-9pm at our hotels each night after driving for 8+hrs, pre-checked in with our bags in our rooms along w/cold water for the next day.

Update: Final Results:

The last day was very competitive between all racers. Despite being what we thought was our best day, it was not.   Team 95 missed an award by 36 seconds but they still did great!    Thank you again for the support and following along.  Time to get the cars prepped for transport!
